Die eigene Erfahrung durch regelmäßige, längerfristige Arbeit in Frauen-Fitnesstudios zeigt zudem spezifische Schwerpunkte in den Trainingszielen. Der Wunsch nach Gewichtsreduktion bzw. das Figurbewußtsein nimmt einen hohen Stellenwert in den geäußerten Zielen ein. Dies ist meist an ein einseitiges Ausdauertraining durch z.T. exzessive Nutzung der Kardiogeräte gekoppelt. Die Bedeutung des Krafttrainings hingegen rückt zunehmend in den Hintergrund. Empirisch gestützte Aussagen in Bezug auf effiziente Krafttrainingsmethoden und die Auswirkungen auf den Körper könnten dieser Tendenz entgegenwirken. Gesucht sind demnach ökonomische Methoden, da die Bereitschaft für Krafttraining gering erscheint. Die Problematik um eine effektive Krafttrainingsmethode, besonders der optimalen Satzzahl, sollte dabei im Vordergrund stehen.
Die infrequent Anzahl an empirischen Studien zum Einsatz- und Mehrsatz-Training bei Frauen zeigt sich sowohl im Leistungssport- als auch im Freizeitsportbereich. Die Erfordernis wissenschaftlich gestützter Ergebnisse im Leistungssport, die eine, den Anforderungen der jeweiligen Sportart entsprechende, Krafttrainingsmethode postulieren können, ist nachvollziehbar. Die Athleten möchten mit möglichst geringem Zeitaufwand den gewünschten Kraftzuwachs erzielen, um mehr Zeit und Energie zur Entwicklung anderer leistungsrelevanter Fähigkeiten einplanen zu können.
